Lt. Gen Asim Munir new DG ISI, top gun for top slot


Lt. Gen Syed Asim Munir Shah who is known as a tough guy in Army circle and a person who means purely business was promoted in the recent lot, has been appointed as new spy master of Pakistan, accorsing to army media wing ISPR. Lt. Gen Asim will be heading the top and most powerful agency after the retirement of his predecessor Lt. Gen Naveed Mukhatar who will hang his boots after serving Pakistan Army for 35 years.
     Lt. Gen Syed Asim Munir is owned by an infantry Unit of Frontier Force Regiment. Prior to the promotion he was serving as the head of Pakistan second most powerful agency Military Intelligence, after his promotion it was almost certain that coveted position will be given to Gen Asim because of vast experience in the field of Intelligence. As a Major Gen before taking charge as DG MI he also served in FCNA(Force Command Northren Areas) as it's DG after which it can be said that he also has experience of problems in Kashmir and tactics of India. During his appointment as DG FCNA he has worked under Gen Bajwa who was corp Comd X corps Rawalpindi than. Lt. Gen Asim was replaced by Maj Gen Sarfraz Ali as new DG Military Intelligence.
        Five other officers were also promoted and changes have been made by Gen Bajwa in the top brass. Lt Gen Shaheen who was promoted with Gen Asim has been appointed as Comd. XI corps peshawar. Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki will take charge from Gen Azhar Saleb Abbassi of 1st Corp Mangla, Gen Abbassi has been appointed as chief of logistic staff. Lt Gen Abdul Aziz has been appointed as Military Secretary while Lt Gen waseem has been appointed has DG Arms at GHQ. Lt Gen Adnan has been appointed as vice chief of general staff.
        Lot which retired before these promotions included Gen Hilal Hussain ex Comd ASFC, Gen Ghayoor Mehmood ex Military Secretary, Gen Hidayat ur Rehman ex Comd XI corps and ex DG I&T, Gen Naveed Mukhtar ex comd V corps and DG ISI, Gen Nazeer Ahmed Butt ex DG XI corps, while Gen Rizwan Akhtar ex DG ISI was also from the same lot but he took early retirement.
