Have you heard of Great wall of China? answer is yes, but today we are going to explore the Great wall of Sindh, Rani Kot Fort. About Rani Kot fort Isobel Shaws writes
"The size of Ranikot defies all reasons. It stands in the middle of nowhere, defending nothing,”
Purpose of built for Ranikot fort is unknown, however it is attributed to Imran bin Musa a Persian nobel during Abbasid caliphate, but this claim is not supported by all and few consider this master piece to be built in 17th and 18th century by Talpurs
Located in the Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan, Rani Kot is widely believed to be the largest fort in the world. It covers a circumference of about 32KM and is standing tall in Kirthar National Park, the second largest National Park of Pakistan.

Ranikot fort can be assessed via Indus Highway N55 from Hyderabad Sindh. However after leaving the N55 road towards Ranikot, road is in pretty bad shape but you will reach your destination in 45 minutes. You will enter via Sann Gate, climb up to get view of area around. Meeri is a fortress housing royal quarters, another important point is Shergarh which is also a fortress for which you need to climb up further. After driving further you will reach Mohan Gate. At Mohan Gate there is Pond of Fairies, depth of which is unknown and we will not advise you to dip inside as stones around are quite slippery. Other important gates are Amri Gate, Shahpar Gate.
Now question is can you visit it in a day from Karachi? Answer is yes but you will have to reach the place as early as possible. Next question is can you stay there at night? Answer is it depends if you are adventure loving tourist you should definitely try camping however if you are easy going than we will not advise you for night stay as facilities are very limited. Next thing is about safety, well it looks safe and no cases of theft are reported and even few European tourist are also seen but there is no police nearby so stay alert.
